China’s coal output rises at slower rate in Sept, imports down from Aug

In September this year, China’s raw coal output amounted to 320.0 million mt, up 4.4 percent on year-on-year basis, 0.6 percentage points slower than the growth rate recorded in August, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). At the same time, China imported 30.29 million mt of coal in September this year, up 20.5 percent year on year, but down 8.1 percent from August.

Coal imports reached 250.57 million mt in the January-September period of the year, rising by 9.5 percent, 1.4 percentage points faster than in the January-August period.

In the January-September period of the current year, China’s raw coal output amounted to 2.74 billion mt, increasing by 4.5 percent year on year, the same as the increase rate recorded in the first eight months of this year.
