China’s coal and lignite imports down 28.8 percent in Jan-Apr

In the January-April period of the current year, China imported 90.126 million mt of coal and lignite, down 28.8 percent year on year, 0.3 percentage points faster than the declining pace recorded in the first three months of the year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on May 7.

In April alone, China imported 21.734 million mt of coal and lignite, declining by 29.8 percent year on year, while down 20.5 percent month on month.
