China’s average finished steel export prices up 25.7 percent in Jan-Oct

Speaking at an industry forum, Qu Xiuli, vice chairman of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), stated that, though Chinese finished steel export volume in the January-October period this year indicated a year-on-year decrease, China’s average finished steel export price for the given period was $870/mt, up 25.7 percent compared to the average price of $693/mt in the same period of the previous year. Accordingly, in the January-October period this year, the value of China’s finished steel exports increased by 12.2 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the average import price of finished steel in China in the given period rose from $1,116/mt to $1,259/mt, up 12.8 percent year on year, with the value of China’s finished steel imports rising by 12.3 percent in the period in question.
