According to the statistics released by Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), in October China's auto sales increased by 72 percent year on year to 1.22 million units, due to strong domestic demand boosted by government stimulus measures.

Meanwhile, the auto sales volume in October was the second highest monthly amount recorded in 2009, being 7.64 percent lower compared to September.

On the other hand, in the January-October period of this year, China's auto sales totaled 10.89 million units, rising by 36.23 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

In January, China reduced the purchase tax on vehicles with engines of 1.6 liters or less from 10 percent to five percent to stimulate the sales of energy-saving vehicles.
