China’s added-value industrial output up 9.9% in Jan-Feb

In the January-February period of the current year, China's overall value-added industrial output increased by 9.9 percent year on year, with this growth rate down 0.4 percentage points compared to that observed in December last year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Meanwhile, in February alone, the value-added industrial output rose by 0.79 percent month on month.

Of 41 industrial sectors, 40 witnessed year-on-year increases in value-added industrial output in January-February this year. In the given period, respective year-on-year increases of 11.4 percent, 9.2 percent, 11.2 percent, 9.8 percent and 2.8 percent were recorded in value-added industrial output in the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector, the general purpose machinery sector, the automotive sector, the electrical equipment and machinery sector and in the railway, shipping, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing sector.

In the January-February period, 333 industrial products saw year-on-year rises in output. China's finished steel output in the period totaled 158.27 million mt, up 14.2 percent, domestic automotive vehicle output amounted to 3.5 million vehicles, up 12.4 percent, while passenger car output totaled 1.922 million mt, up 19.5 percent, all on year-on-year basis, according to the data issued by the National Bureau of Statistics.
