China to control scrap imports

Recent market news reports that, Chinese government will take certain measures to control metal scrap imports. The new regulation will be in effect as of July 1, 2004. In line with the new regulation, firms importing scrap metal into China will have to register with the government. The new decision is taken to control the quality of scrap imported, as certain types of scrap cause environmental pollution.
