SteelOrbis Shanghai According to the latest figures issued by the Chinese customs authorities on March 12, China's trade surplus hit $23.76 billion for the month of February, constituting the second highest historical monthly record. China's February exports rose 51.7 percent to $82.1 billion, while imports for the month increased 13.1 percent to $58.34 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $23.76 billion. This total is 9.7 times higher than the figure for the same month of last year. Such an astonishingly huge trade surplus has surpassed all market expectations by a large margin. In the view of some market insiders, the size of the trade surplus may be due to the rumored imminent export control measures, which would have pushed export enterprises to shift as many exports as possible in the shortest possible time.
