China imports 121.95 million mt of iron ore in Jan-Feb

In the January-February period of the current year, China imported 121.95 million mt of iron ore and iron ore concentrate, down 1.5 percent year on year, according to the figures released by China’s General Administration of Customs.
 
In the given period, the import value of the iron ore totaled $15.218 billion, down 11.2 percent year on year, while the average import price of the iron ore was $124.79/mt, down 9.86 percent compared to the same period of last year.
 
In February this year, China imported 56.42 million mt of iron ore, down 13.17 percent year on year and decreasing by 9.12 million mt compared to January.
 
In January-February this year, China’s total finished steel exports amounted to 9.16 million mt, up 28.7 percent compared to the 7.12 million mt recorded in the same period last year, while China exported 4.24 million mt of finished steel in February, down 680,000 mt from 4.92 million mt in January.
