Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works, the main asset of Russian steelmaker Severstal, has announced the completion of the major upgrade at its Mill 2000 in the production of flat products. The company spent RUB 2 billion ($31.3 million) for the repair works.
With the completion of 14 days of construction and installation works, the company is now able to produce an extra 140,000 mt per year for the oil and gas industries, as well as improving the quality of rolled products, while having the ability to produce new types of products, said Evgeny Vinogradov, general director of Severstal Russian Steel Division.
The company stated that Mill 2000 is among the most productive hot rolling units in Russia with more than 5 million mt of rolled steel capacity per year, providing 65 percent of the company’s saleable output.
