Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Chengde Steel, a subsidiary of Hebei Steel Group, has stated that in the first six months of the current year it has been focusing on production and sales of earthquake-resistant rebar.

In the January-June period, Chengde Steel sold over 900,000 mt of earthquake-resistant HRB 400E rebar, with an increase in profit of RMB 30/mt compared to standard HRB 400 rebar. In the given period, Chengde Steel also supplied over 10,000 mt of earthquake-resistant HRB 500E rebar, which allows an increased profit margin.
