Chengde Steel carries out hot test run on continuous casting mill

Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel Co. has announced that its subsidiary Chengde Iron and Steel Company (Chengde Steel) has a carried out a successful hot test run on its new eight-roller eight-stand continuous billet casting mill.

The new mill casts billets of 165 mm x 165 mm specification, in lengths of 9-12 m.

The vanadium-refining and steelmaking plant of Chengde Steel produced 4.7688 million mt of crude steel in 2011, as previously reported by SteelOrbis.
