Charter Steel to invest $90 million in Ohio

Saukville, Wisconsin-based steel producer Charter Steel is reportedly planning to build a steel melting facility at the site of its rolling mill in Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio with an investment of $90 million. The project, covering establishment of electric arc furnace and billet casting facility is scheduled to be completed by April 2006. Charter Steel officials stated that the new melting facility in Ohio will reduce transportation costs as it is closer to the company's markets. Moreover, the new facility will increase production at Cleveland.
