The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) in its latest report has stated that China’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to increase by 6.7 percent year on year in the second quarter of the current year, with this growth 0.1 percentage point lower than that recorded in the first quarter of the year, while China's GDP is expected to increase by 6.6 percent in the full year of 2018.
In its report CASS stated that the narrower trade surplus has exerted a negative impact on China’s GDP. It also suggested that China should accelerate supply-side reform and expand domestic demand in the second half of the year, to ease potential risks and enhance sustainable economic development.
