Capacity replacement details issued for Fushun New Iron and Steel

The Department of Industry and Information Technology of China’s Liaoning Province has issued the capacity replacement details relating to two new 120 mt converters, belonging to Liaoning-based Fushun New Iron and Steel Co., Ltd, which represent a total of 2.7 million mt of steelmaking capacity. The construction of the converters will start in August this year, while they will be put into operation in June 2021.

The steelmaking capacity to be eliminated includes three 35 mt converters and two 40 mt converters, respectively representing 1.65 million mt and 1.2 million mt of steelmaking capacity, belonging to Fushun New Iron and Steel, of which 145,000 mt of capacity will be held for later use in capacity replacement. All dismantlement will be completed by June 2021.
