Capacity replacement details issued for Xusteel Group

The Department of Industry and Information Technology of China’s Jiangsu Province has issued the capacity replacement details relating to one new 2,120 cubic meter blast furnace to be built by Jiangsu-based Xusteel Group at Xuzhou in Jiangsu. The capacities to be eliminated include two 550 cubic meter blast furnaces, one 450 cubic meter blast furnace and one 450 cubic meter blast furnace belonging to Xusteel Group, Jiangsu-based Rongyang Iron and Steel and Jiangsu-based Longyuan Iron and Steel, respectively. Meanwhile, construction work on the new blast furnace will begin in June this year, while production operations are scheduled to start in June 2021. 

The new blast furnace will have an annual iron-smelting capacity of 1.802 million mt, replacing the abovementioned four blast furnaces, which have iron-smelting capacities of 1.30 million mt, 0.4125 million mt and 0.55 million mt, respectively.
