Capacity increase by Tezcan Galvaniz
Tezcan Galvanizli Yapi Elemanlari San. Ve Tic. A.S., put its Galva 1 mill in Manisa Organized Industrial Zone into operation in 1983 and Galva 2 mill in Kocaeli making
production with the latest technology in 2000. A furnace system which includes skin pass and tension leveller is used in the facilities. The coordinating manager Asuman Gürsoy points out the fact that their
production is in accordance with world-wide standards and environmentally-conscious.
Besides rising the annual capacity of 180'000mt to 270'000mt, Tezcan has integration oriented targets for its Galva 2 mill for 2004. Gürsoy states that with the cold rolling mill investment which will be realized under enterprise structure, Tezcan Galva 2 will not encounter difficulties in supplying raw material.
Gürsoy expresses, a great advantage in cost reduction will be gained after new natural gas pipelines come into service. Gürsoy, having said that the
galvanized industry is directly affected by the building industry apart from the
white goods and
automotive industries, also stresses that usage of
galvanized steel in steel
construction will make these
construction much more stronger and long-lived, even it seems not advantageous at first sight it will have an affect in reducing costs in long term. “Our
galvanized, color
coated galvanized steel products are used in the
automotive,
white goods,
construction, shipyards, air-conditioner systems, ventiliation canals, steel frame, solar collector and all sorts of warehouses.” says Gürsoy. Tezcan Galva 2 is known as the only
galvanized steel producer with color coating line and steel service center under the same enterprise structure.
The annual color
coated galvanized steel
production capacity of color coating lines is around 25'000 ton/year where the annual steel sheet processing capacity is around 150'000 ton/year. Gürsoy states that having the color coating line and steel service center under the same enterprise structure, gives both time and price advantage for the consumers. “Based on these advantages

coated galvanized coils, plain sheets, trapezoid sheets, corrugated sheets, store sheets, strips, embossed steel, roof edging and
galvanized structural
beams are produced in our facilities.”
Annual
galvanized steel
consumption in
Turkey is 550'000 ton, where as it is 14 million tons in America. According to Gürsoy, reason behind this significant difference is in direct proportion with consumers' income level and lack of knowledge.
