Canadoil to invest US$618 million in new Thai plant

Canadoil Group, an international group of pipe producing companies, has announced plans to invest Baht 20 billion (US$618 million) in a new plant in Thailand.

As reported by international news sources, the plant is to produce high-grade metal, alloy and steel plates for pipes used in the oil and gas industry, with a maximum capacity of 1.5 million mt a year. The company will use Thailand as its regional hub for specialty metal plates when the factory starts operations in early 2012.

The group, which has production bases in Japan, South Korea, Italy, Canada and Venezuela as well as Thailand, first entered the Thai market 10 years ago.
