Ternium’s JV with Tecpetrol, Techgen, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with solar power company Canadian Solar, which will provide the Ternium-owned facility energy during a 15-year timeframe.

"We are honored to supply competitive and clean energy to one of the main steel manufacturing corporations in Latin America" said Dr. Shawn Qu, CEO at Canadian Solar.

The deal was labeled by the Canadian company as a “a step forward” for Techgen and its affiliates in their continuous efforts to improve their business systems towards a more sustainable future.

Techgen owns and operates a combined cycle power plant that supplies energy to Tenaris and Ternium's steel mills in Mexico.
