Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending January 8, the US rotary rig count increased by nine to 360 rigs. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 84, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by eight to 275. The overall rig count is now down by 421 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 58 to 117 rigs in the week ending January 8. The Canadian rig count is now down by 86 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
