Canadian rig count rises again while US count stays level week-on-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending December 13, the US rotary rig count remained level at 799 rigs following a three-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by four to 129, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by four to 667. The overall rig count is now down by 272 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 15 to 153 rigs in the week ending December 13, following a 12-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 21 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
