Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending December 29 the US rotary rig count decreased by two to 929 rigs following a one-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 182 while the number of rigs drilling for oil remained stable again at 747. The overall rig count is now up by 271 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count plunged by 74 to 136 rigs in the week ending December 29 following a 28-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 21 rigs from the same week a year ago.
