Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending December 21, the US rotary rig count increased by nine to 1,080 rigs following a four-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 197 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 10 to 883. The overall rig count is now up by 149 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 43 to 131 rigs in the week ending December 21, following a 12-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 79 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
