Canadian new vehicle sales up 5 percent in August

According to Statistics Canada, new motor vehicle sales in August 2019 totaled 186,107 units, reflecting an increase of 5.0 percent month-on-month and an increase of 0.6 percent year-on-year. By value, Canadian vehicle sales in August totaled $7.95 billion, compared to $7.51 billion in July and $7.36 billion in August 2018.

Canadian sales of vehicles manufactured in North America totaled 140,068 units in August at a value of $6.12 billion, while sales of vehicles manufactured overseas totaled 46,039 units at a value of $1.82 billion.
