According to Statistics Canada, new motor vehicle sales in April totaled 195,806 units, reflecting an increase of 3.1 percent month-on-month but a decrease of 2.2 percent year-on-year. By value, Canadian vehicle sales in April totaled $8.21 billion, compared to $7.94 billion in March and $7.93 billion in April 2017.
Canadian sales of vehicles manufactured in North America totaled 148,042 units in April at a value of $6.30 billion, while sales of vehicles manufactured overseas totaled 47,764 units at a value of $1.91 billion.
