Canadian iron ore shipments up 30.6 percent in August

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in August 2018 totaled 7,110,822 mt, a 30.6 percent increase from July and a 117.5 percent increase from August 2017. Of that total, 426,699 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 6,684,123 mt was exported.

Year-to-date iron ore shipments through August totaled 31,215,398 mt, up 8.3 percent from the same period of 2017.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of August totaled 10,031,468 mt, down 13.5 percent from July levels but up 229.9 percent from levels in August 2017.
