Canadian freight trucking price index rises 0.2 percent in Q3

According to Statistics Canada, the For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index rose 0.2 percent in the third quarter. This was the first increase since the second quarter of 2014.
 
Both the general freight trucking component (+0.1 percent) and the specialized freight trucking component (+0.4 percent) increased.
 
The index was down 2.2 percent in the third quarter compared with the same quarter of 2015. This was the eighth consecutive year-over-year decrease. The general freight trucking component (-1.9 percent) and the specialized freight trucking component (-2.9 percent) both declined.
