Canada’s weak vehicle sales hit wholesale trade

Statistics Canada said that a slump in Canada's vehicle sales negatively impacted the country's wholesale trade in January 2005. Overall wholesale sales fell 0.2% from December to $47.4 billion in January. Excluding the automotive sector, however, wholesale sales rose 1.1%. Motor vehicle sales dropped 7.1% in January following 6.9% growth recorded in December. While new car sales were down, wholesalers of auto parts and accessories posted a gain of 2.4%.
