CANACERO and PEMEX sign collaboration agreement

On the final day of the Third Congress of the Mexican steel industry, the National Chamber of the Iron and Steel Industry (CANACERO) and Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), signed an agreement of collaboration to include local content in goods and services.

Signed by the Director General of PEMEX, Emilio Lozoya Austin, and President of the CANACERO , Alonso Ancira Elizondo, on Thursday, the agreement is valid for six years and indicates that both parties will identify opportunities to nationally supply steel goods and services .

Lozoya stressed the importance of the agreement and reiterated that through the Energy Reform there are great opportunities for the participation of the Mexican private sector throughout the industrial chain, and the agreement with the CANACERO is a test of the will of President Peña Nieto to strengthen and grow the industry.

Ancira called the signing of the document historic, "the most important agreement between the private sector and the state in the last four decades and representative of the manifest will of the current federal administration to support the development of the domestic industry."
He noted that in the case of the steel industry, in the medium term the transfer of services and products to PEMEX for required developments could exceed US$2 billion.

In the text of the agreement states that PEMEX and CANACERO are committed to deliver the forecast demand for goods and services. PEMEX will consider the CANACERO in procurement procedures to be carried out, and in turn, the CANACERO will support the parastatal in:
1. Identify obstacles and areas of opportunity faced by Mexican companies in the oil industry to provide certainty and transparency in the supply of products.
2. Make available to PEMEX market research nationally and internationally regarding the conditions of price and quality of products and services offered by its members, so that the elements to tell parastatal procurement procedures .
3. Provide to PEMEX the register of its members operating in various regions of the Republic, and information on products, materials and equipment manufactured by its partners , as well as offering preferential prices affecting their property .
4. Encourage member companies to be socially responsible in the areas of safety, health and environmental protection and that have a reliable supplier certificate issued by a certification body accredited home.
