CAAM: Chinese auto output rises by 13.5 percent in Jan-May

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) has stated that in May this year the aggregate automobile output in China totaled 1,780,500 vehicles, up 13.5 percent on year-on-year basis. In May this year, overall automobile sales in China amounted to 1,761,500 units, increasing by 9.8 percent year on year, which was slower than the 13.4 percent year-on-year growth seen in April.

In the January-May period of this year, aggregate automobile output in China reached 9,077,200 vehicles, up 13.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, in the given period, the overall automobile sales volume in the country rose by 12.6 percent year on year to 9,028,100 units.

In May this year, the total passenger car output in China amounted to 1,419,700 vehicles, up 11.9 percent on year-on-year basis and down 5.3 percent month on month, while sales of passenger cars in China totaled 1,396,900 vehicles, up nine percent on year-on-year basis and down 3.1 percent month on month.

Also in May this year, the aggregate commercial vehicle output in China totaled 360,800 vehicles, up 20.4 percent on year-on-year basis and down ten percent month on month, while sales of commercial vehicles in China totaled 364,600 vehicles, up 12.9 percent on year-on-year basis and down 8.9 percent month on month.

In the January-May period, sales of passenger cars rose 14.73 percent year on year to 7.26 million units, while sales of commercial vehicles increased 4.5 percent year on year to 1,766,500 units. 

In May this year, China's automobile exports totaled 86,400 vehicles, down 16.1 percent on year-on-year basis and decreasing by 3.4 percent month on month. In the January-May period of the current year, aggregate automobile exports of China reached 402,300 vehicles, up 5.3 percent compared to the same period last year, including 245,900 passenger cars and 156,400 commercial vehicles, up 12.1 percent and down 3.8 percent respectively, both year on year.

In the January-April period of this year, China's aggregate automobile export value amounted to $23.676 billion, up 6.4 percent compared to the same period last year, while China's aggregate automobile import value in the given period totaled $23.034 billion, down 13.8 percent year on year.
