CAAM: China’s passenger vehicle output down 9.4 percent in August

In August this year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China amounted to 1.3416 million units and 1.4185 million units, increasing by 3.1 percent and 11.8 percent month on month, while down 9.4 percent and 3.4 percent year on year, respectively, as announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on September 10. In the January-August period this year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China totaled 12.9706 million units and 12.7821 million units, up 2.4 percent and 2.6 percent year on year, respectively.
 
As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales volumes in August amounted to 228,100 units and 246,000 units, up 5.2 percent and 5.0 percent month on month, while decreasing by 2.3 percent and 0.6 percent year on year, respectively. In the January-August period, domestic output and sales of commercial vehicles totaled 2.2117 million units and 2.2351 million units, down 13.5 percent and 12.6 percent year on year, respectively.
 
In the January-August period this year, China’s auto export volume totaled 498,000 units, down 14.8 percent year on year, including 286,700 passenger vehicles and 211,300 commercial vehicles, down 16.5 percent and declining by 12.5 percent year on year, respectively.
