Building permits in Turkey rise 17.4 percent in Q1

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in the first quarter of 2013 increased to 22,995, up 17.4 percent from 19,587 registered during the same period of the previous year.

In the first quarter this year, the value of the buildings in question increased by 1.2 percent year on year to $11.7 billion, while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits increased to 158,466, up 9.3 percent from 144,972 units in the same quarter of the previous year.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter, the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey increased by 24.6 percent to 23,959 buildings compared to the same period last year.
