According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in the January-September period of the current year amounted to 77,004, down 41.4 percent from 131,408 registered during the same period of the previous year. In the first nine months of 2016, the number of buildings authorized by municipality building permits totaled 95,912.
In the first three quarters of this year, the value of the buildings in question fell by 44.7 percent year on year to TRY 139.83 billion ($26 billion), while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits recorded a decrease of 58.6 percent to 485,356, both year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey increased by 3.7 percent to 85,832 buildings, compared to the first nine months of 2017.
