BSSL focuses on more value-added products

According to recent industry news, Indian producer Bhushan Steel and Strips Ltd (BSSL) has recently started to work on producing more value-added products, such as color-coated sheets, high tensile and hardened tempered steel. With this project, BSSL is targeting motorcycle producers, such as Bajaj Auto, Yamaha and Hero Honda. A company official states that BSSL will be ready to supply its new products to targeted companies by April. Moreover, the company plans to increase exports of aforementioned value-added products. In line with these developments, BSSL plans to increase its profit from Rupees 610 million ($13.4 million) in 2002 to Rupees 850 million ($18.7 million) in this fiscal. The company has also expansion projects, for which some operations have already started at Khopoli. The exports of the company are shared among China, Middle East, US and Africa, with the rates of 20-25%, 25%, 25% and 25-30%, respectively.
