Brazil’s semi-finished steel exports down 40 percent in August

Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 27.5 million mt in August, rising one percent compared to July this year and down by 15.2 percent compared to the same month of 2011, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export value in August this year fell three percent compared to the previous month and fell by 38.3 percent compared to the same month of 2011, totaling $2.8 billion.

In August of the current year, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 462,316 mt, decreasing 7.2 percent compared to the previous month and down 40 percent compared to the same month of 2011, while these exports were valued at $277.9 million, decreasing 6.2 percent compared to July and down 46 percent year on year.
