Brazil's iron ore exports down by 25.7 percent in December

Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 24.674 million mt in December last year, decreasing 25.7 compared to the same month of 2018, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore exports in December totaled $1.49 billion in value, decreasing 18.7 percent year on year. 

In December, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 784,522 mt, down by 8.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $317.99 million, decreasing by 27.04 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in December Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 91,238 metric tons, down by 61.3 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $63 million, down 58.7 percent from the December 2018 level.
