Brazil's iron ore exports down by 19.2 percent in January

Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 26.79 million mt in January this year, down by 19.2 percent compared to the same month of 2019, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore exports in January totaled $1.74 billion in value, rising by 1.6 percent year on year.

In January, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 841,322 mt, declining by 19.11 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $325.26 million, decreasing by 37.6 percent year on year. 

Meanwhile, in December Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 134,021 metric tons, falling by 55 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $85.65 million, contracting by 61.5 percent from the January 2019 level.
