Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has announced that in August this year industrial production in the country fell 0.8 percent compared to July and was up four percent from August last year.
In the first eight months of this year, industrial production in Brazil was up by 1.5 percent on year-on-year basis.
According to the announcement, in the eighth month of this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil decreased by one percent, output of capital goods rose by 0.5 percent, output of consumer goods grew by 0.3 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved up by 4.1 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods fell by 0.6 percent, all compared to the previous month.
In August this year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 3.5 percent and machine and equipment output rose by 10 percent, output of motor vehicles and trailers moved up by 15.3 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the January-August period of this year, Brazil's machine and equipment output rose by 2.7 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers increased by 13.9 percent, both compared to the same period of 2016.
