Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has reported that in April this year industrial production in the largest Latin American country increased by 0.8 percent compared to March and was up 8.9 percent from April 2017.
In the January-April period of this year, industrial production in Brazil was up by 4.5 percent on year-on-year basis.
According to the announcement, in April this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil rose by one percent, output of capital goods increased by 1.4 percent, output of consumer goods advanced by 0.4 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved up by 2.8 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.5 percent, all compared to the previous month.
In April this year, Brazil's metal products output increased by 7.4 percent and output of motor vehicles, trailers and bodies moved up by 40.6 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the January-April period of 2018, Brazil's machine and equipment output rose by 7.7 percent, metal products output moved up by eight percent and output of motor vehicles, trailers and bodies increased by 25.2 percent, all compared to the same period of 2017.
