Brazil's industrial output rises 0.5 percent in June

Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has announced that in June this year industrial production in the country remained stable compared to May and was up 0.5 percent from June last year. 

In the first half of this year, industrial production in Brazil was up by 0.5 percent on year-on-year basis.

According to the announcement, in the sixth month of this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil increased by 0.1 percent, output of capital goods rose by 0.3 percent, output of consumer goods narrowed by 1.1 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved down by six percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods fell by 0.5 percent, all compared to the previous month.

In June this year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 2.5 percent and machine and equipment output rose by 7.6 percent, output of motor vehicles and trailers moved up by 2.2 percent, all on year-on-year basis.  In the first half of this year, Brazil's machine and equipment output rose by 2.4 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers increased by 11.7 percent, both compared to the same period of 2016.
