Brazilian slab producer Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP) has shipped 10 million mt of slab as of May 17 from the Ceará state Pecém port complex, where CSP is located.

CSP, which is owned by Vale, Dongkuk Steel and Posco, started slab production in 2016. This year, CSP has shipped 1.02 million mt of slab from January to May 17, the highest slab sales volumes it reported so far since 2016.

CSP sold 222,357 mt of the product in April, according to a report from the port complex. CSP’s latest slab shipment was destined to the US, which accounts for 41.4 percent of CSP’s all-time slab shipments since 2016. Turkey accounted for another 12.8 percent share. South Korea represented 9.1 percent of all slab sales, while Brazil represented another 8.5 percent.
