Brazil’s civil construction activity up in December

Brazilian civil construction activity in December rose to 44.9 points from 37.9 points in December 2016, on a scale from zero to 100, in which values above 50 show growth, according to the country’s confederation of industries (CNI).

CNI said local civil construction activity in December declined from 46.8 points in November 2017.

The industry’s capacity utilization in December reached 58 percent, down from 59 percent in November 2017, but up from 56 percent in December 2016.

The indicator that measures the number of job positions in the local civil construction industry rose to 43 points in December, up from 36 points in December 2016. Despite the year-on-year increase, the indicator was down from 44.9 points in November last year.
