According to a report issued by Brazilian auto dealer association Fenabrave, in September this year new motor vehicle registrations in the country decreased 27.7 percent compared to August in which strong month-on-month and year-on-year growth had been recorded. Brazilian new motor vehicle registrations in September were down 16.7 percent year on year, totaling 420,142 units. In the first nine months of the year, Brazilian new motor vehicle registrations decreased slightly by 1.9 percent year on year to 4,184,862 units.
In the month in question, Brazilian new car registrations fell 34.4 percent month on month and were down 5.7 percent compared to September 2011 amounting to 213,711 units, while new light vehicle registrations in September amounted to 63,903 units, decreasing 20 percent compared to the previous month and down 4.5 percent year on year. In the January-September period of this year, total new registrations in the car and light vehicle segment increased by 5.5 percent on year-on-year basis to 2,666,827 units.
