Brazilian metal industry producer prices up 1% in Mar over Feb

Brazil's national statistics agency, the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatistica (IBGE), has reported that the producer price index (PPI) in Brazil was stable month on month in March this year, but recorded a rise of one percent compared with the same month of the previous year.

In March this year, producer prices in the Brazilian metallurgical sector indicated a positive change of one percent over the previous month, marking the highest increase since May 2012. In March, products connected to the steel industry like "wire and carbon steel wire", "uncoated hot coil carbon steel" and "galvanized steel plates or coils" had higher prices compared to the previous month. Brazilian producers' prices in the metallurgical sector were 1.7 percent higher in the first quarter of the year compared to the same quarter of 2012.
