Brazilian iron ore exports up slightly in 2011

According to the statistics provided by Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase), in December 2011 Brazil's iron ore exports amounted to 35.4 million metric tons, rising by 23 percent year on year and up 52.3 percent compared to November.
 
The share of the world's largest iron ore exporter Vale in Brazil's total iron ore exports in December equalled 90.9 percent, amounting to 32.2 million metric tons, up 20.9 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in the whole of 2011 Brazilian iron ore exports rose by 1.4 percent year on year to 287.06 million metric tons.
 
Vale's share in Brazil's total iron ore exports in 2011 reached 91.3 percent, amounting to 262.2 million metric tons, up 2.9 percent compared to 2010.
