Brazil's national statistics agency, IBGE, announced Tuesday that industrial production in the country was up 1.8 percent in April from March, and increased 8.4 percent from April 2012. In March, industrial output rose by 0.7 percent after falling 2.4 percent in February (revised).
For the first four months of 2013, industrial production in Latin America's largest economy was 1.6 percent, reversing a fall recorded during the last four months of 2012. Cumulative production levels in 2012 fell 1.1 percent.
