Brazilian government may lift steel rod tariffs

Brazilian sources suggest that the Brazilian government plans to reduce tariffs on steel rods used in construction. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, on March 4, 2005, the Brazilian government lifted tariffs on fifteen types of steel products for a six-month period. However, certain companies filed a complaint to Brazil's National Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) since the new regulation did not cover steel rods. Camex will evaluate the issue in the coming days, sources report.
