Brazilian flat steel distributor sales in June increased 21.9 percent, year-on-year, but decreased 8 percent, month-on-month, to 247,500 mt, according to local flat steel distributors association, Inda.
Purchases of flat steel products by local distributors in June reached 230,100 mt, 15 percent down, year-on-year, and 6.5 percent down, month-on-month.
Flat steel inventory in June declined 2.2 percent, month-on-month, to 774,200 mt. Inventory turnover in June grew to 3.1 months, from 2.9 months in May.
Brazilian flat steel imports by local distributors in June fell 49.6 percent, year-on-year, and 48.9 percent, month-on-month, to 64,700 mt.
Inda estimated both the sales and purchases of flat steel by local distributors in July to improve 8 percent on a month-on-month basis.
