Brazilian sales of flat steel by local distributors in July grew 4.3 percent, year-on-year, and 16.4 percent, month-on-month, to 288,000 mt, according to a report from the local flat steel distributors association (Inda).
Inda said purchases of flat steel by domestic distributors in July was 276,600 mt, 2.7 percent down, year-on-year, but 20.2 percent up, on a month-on-month basis.
Flat steel inventory in July slightly decreased 1.5 percent, month-on-month, to 762,700 mt. Inventory turnover in July declined to 2.6 months, from 3.1 months in June 2019.
Brazilian flat steel imports in July dropped 12.7 percent, year-on-year, but improved 50.2 percent, month-on-month, to 97,200 mt.
Inda estimated both the sales and purchases of flat steel by local distributors in August to remain stable, as compared to July.
