Flat steel sales by Brazilian distributors rose 12.5 percent in September, year-on-year, and 3.6 percent, month-on-month, to 290,000 mt, according to the local flat steel distributors association (Inda).
Brazilian distributor flat steel purchases in September totaled 245,100 mt, 0.3 percent up, year-on-year, but 12.4 percent down on a month-on-month basis.
Flat steel inventory in September decreased to 717,600 mt, from 762,500 mt in August 2019. Inventory turnover in September dropped to 2.5 months, from 2.7 months in August 2019.
Brazilian flat steel imports in September fell 23.5 percent, year-on-year, and 3.2 percent, month-on-month, to 86,900 mt.
Inda estimated the sales of flats by domestic distributors to improve 5 percent in October, while purchases of flats are expected to increase 8 percent, both on a month-on-month analysis.
