Brazilian distributor sales of flat steel in September dropped 2.8 percent, year-on-year, and 13.8 percent, month-on-month, to 257,900 mt, the nation’s flat steel distributors association (Inda) said on Tuesday.
Purchases of flat steel products by local distributors in September diminished 7.2 percent, year-on-year, and 18.6 percent, month-on-month, to 244,400 mt. Distributors’ inventory in September fell 1.5 percent, month-on-month, to 906,300 mt. Inventory turnover in September rose to 3.5 months from 3.1 months in August this year.
Brazilian imports of flat steel products by domestic distributors in September was 113,600 mt, 14.4 percent up, month-on-month, but 16.8 percent down, year-on-year.
Inda estimated both sales and purchases of flat steel products by distributors to remain stable in October, on a month-on-month basis.
